Schaublin 125, 135, 150 and 160
Lathes.

Schaublin 125
The 125, 135, 150 and 160 lathes were
all massively constructed, well designed machines. All models
have infinitely variable spindle speeds and the 125 also features
independently driven variable carriage feeds. The 135, 150 and160
lathes featured ball-screw lead screws. On these machines the
lead screw always remains stationary (with the exception of those
fitted with rapids, where the leadscrew is rotated during rapid
traverse) while the ball-nut is rotated to give sliding traverses
(including manual movement by handwheel) and screwcutting. The
125 was available three versions: version A as a turning machine
only; version B as a turning and screwcutting machine using change
wheels; and version C with full universal screwcutting gearbox.
These machines were very expensive when
new and consequently are quite rare (especially the 160). Machines
in excellent condition still command good prices, however, potential
purchasers of such machines should be aware all models are quite
complicated and that worn machines are extremely expensive to
recondition.
