Schaublin 53 Milling Machine

The 53 was the largest milling machine made by Schaublin SA. This machine departed from the "continental pattern" in that it employed a conventional knee and table. Unconventionally, the 40 ISO milling head was carried on a large diameter cylinder which is extendible longitudinally, rotatable and indexable at 15 degree intervals. The milling head itself is also able to rotate in a plane at 90 degrees to the axis of the cylinder and is also indexable. Therefore the milling spindle and can be placed in any angular relationship to the table. The large cylinder also carries two smaller cylinders which form the overarm for horizontal work. Speeds are fully variable as are the feeds to all three axis . The table has a working surface of 1100X305mm and the travel are X 250, Y 700, and Z 490mm. The spindle is powered by a 3kW motor.
